About Us

Meet Captain Chris Gupton

Captain Chris Gupton has been fishing Lake Erie since 2005, with fishing being a lifelong passion that started as a young boy fishing alongside his father. Over the years, he’s fished for nearly every species imaginable and was once an avid bass fisherman — until a fly-in walleye trip to Canada in 2003 changed everything.

That experience sparked a new passion for walleye fishing. By the fall of 2003, Chris sold his bass boat and purchased his first walleye boat, dedicating himself to becoming a full-time walleye fisherman. After years of fishing Lake Erie and sharing trips with friends, family, and business associates, he realized how rewarding it was to teach others the techniques behind consistent success.

After 11 years on Lake Erie, Chris earned his US Coast Guard Captain’s License to provide hands-on, one-on-one walleye instruction on the Great Lakes.

Today, Rip N Lipz Charter Fishing focuses on delivering more than just a fishing trip — we teach you how to fish and have fun while doing it.

On the Water

Trips begin at daylight and run as full working days. We keep groups small so clients are involved throughout — setting rods, running gear, adjusting to conditions, and landing fish.

Charters run on a Starcraft 180 powered by Mercury outboards and equipped with a Minn Kota trolling motor, Lowrance electronics, Bert’s Custom Tackle rod holders, Smooth Move seating, and a full walk-through windshield with bimini top for a comfortable ride on windy Lake Erie days.

Trips are available for individuals, families, groups of friends, and corporate or multi-party outings, with weekday and weekend availability.

What Sets Us Apart

Years of Experience

Fishing Lake Erie since 2005 and guiding since 2015, our trips are shaped by time on the water and understanding how the fish move through the season.

One-on-One Instruction

We focus on teaching real walleye techniques, not just putting rods in holders. You’ll understand the setup, any needed adjustments, and decisions being made throughout the day.

Small, Focused Trips

We keep groups manageable so every client stays involved. That means more learning, more engagement, and a better overall day on the water.
